Full Plumbing & Heating Installation for HMO Conversion – Student Accommodation Project
This project involved a complete plumbing and heating installation across two residential properties undergoing full HMO (House in Multiple Occupation) conversion — transforming standard homes into high-capacity student accommodation.
Each property was reconfigured to maximise occupancy, increasing from 3 bedrooms to 5 and 6 bedrooms respectively, with fully integrated en-suite facilities in every room. We delivered a full system design and installation, including hot and cold water distribution, central heating, and drainage infrastructure throughout both properties.
One property included the installation of a boiler and unvented cylinder system, while the second utilised a modern heat pump setup, requiring careful system planning and integration.
A key technical challenge involved routing large-diameter 28mm pipework to support the heat pump system, ensuring consistent pressure and efficient distribution across all rooms. All main pipework was installed within ceiling voids and structural cavities, maintaining a clean finish while ensuring accessibility and performance.
Across both properties, we installed:
23 radiators in total.
11 fully equipped bathrooms (en-suites).
Full kitchen plumbing systems.
Heated towel rails in every bathroom. Complete hot and cold water distribution to all rooms.
Each en-suite included a shower, basin, and toilet, requiring precise pipe routing, drainage falls, and pressure balancing to ensure reliable performance across simultaneous usage.
All systems were fully tested, flushed, and commissioned to ensure long-term reliability, efficiency, and compliance with current standards.
The result is a high-performance, fully integrated plumbing and heating system designed to support high-demand usage in multi-occupancy living environments, delivering consistent comfort, efficiency, and durability.
